Salesforce Shifts Focus from UI to Metadata with AIforce and Koa
Salesforce's Dreamforce event marked a significant shift in its approach to enterprise applications. The company is betting that value will move from user interfaces to metadata, models will become commoditized, and context, governance, and orchestration will gain importance.
One key announcement was AIforce, a new interface layer for accessing Salesforce through conversational AI interfaces like Anthropic Claude, Slack, or Agentforce Coworker. This allows users to access data workflows, business logic, and semantics in Salesforce without having to open the platform itself.
Salesforce is positioning Slack as the human-to-agent interaction layer, with many of its sales capabilities running on Slack rather than Agentforce. This move opens up opportunities for Slack to compete with other generative AI tools.
The company also introduced Koa, a CRM reasoning engine built on NVIDIA Nemotron. This model is purpose-built and trained on synthetic CRM data sets, providing better accuracy at a lower cost compared to broad generative models.
