Salesforce Software Crashes During Dreamforce Conference
Salesforce's annual Dreamforce conference was marred by a three-hour outage of its flagship software on September 15. The company's cloud suite, which is used for tracking sales data and invoices, became partially inaccessible to customers around 3:50 a.m. ET due to an external vendor issue affecting Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge.
The problem was attributed to an intermittent freezing issue in Chrome 153 version, which caused errors and other mishaps to become more common than usual. Salesforce's status page indicated that the company had released a fix for the issue, advising customers using Chrome to update to the latest available version.
DownDetector showed user error reports for Salesforce spiking around 3:50 a.m. and steadily dropping as the work day began. The outage occurred during overnight hours in the United States, but it was still inconvenient for the company's product to stop working during its major annual conference.
