Salesforce Touts AI Agent Growth Amid Wall Street Fears of SaaSpocalypse
Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff is pushing back against the idea that AI agents will make traditional enterprise software obsolete, known as SaaSpocalypse. To support his stance, Salesforce highlights its own growth in this area. According to Gautam Vasudev, svp of Agentforce contact center & Salesforce Voice, the number of agents created on Salesforce has increased by 72%, and agentic work units - tokens used to drive a particular outcome on the platform - have risen by 90%.
The company didn't share specific numbers or timeframes for this growth. However, these increases demonstrate Salesforce's ability to adapt to changing market conditions. This counters Wall Street fears that companies like Anthropic will disrupt traditional SaaS business models, as Salesforce has a stake in Anthropic.
