Salesforce Unveils Education and Transportation Initiatives in Africa
At Dreamforce 2026 in San Francisco, htxt.co.za caught up with Salesforce South Africa to discuss mobility and its impact on education and transportation. Nick Christodoulou, Area VP for Africa at Salesforce, and Ana Alonso, SVP and GM for Eastern and Mediterranean, Israel, and Africa at Salesforce, shared their insights.
The company's 1-1-1 philanthropy model is focused on supporting education, particularly in the areas of AI and other technologies. Christodoulou stated that 'any growth [in Africa] is predicated on skills and capabilities,' and emphasized the importance of investing in education to address unemployment.
Salesforce has partnered with a major education institution in South Africa, which will be announced soon. The company's senior talent program manager, Ursula Fear, is dedicated to developing skills in the country and working on various projects to support communities and schools.
In the transportation space, Salesforce is collaborating with airlines such as Southwest Airlines and Heathrow Airport to improve customer relationships, reduce check-in times, and increase revenue through AI-powered solutions. Christodoulou noted that 'the industry is transforming in a huge way,' with personalized services becoming increasingly popular.
