Salesforce Unveils Koa: Its First AI Reasoning Model
Salesforce unveiled its first AI reasoning model, Koa, at Dreamforce 2026 in San Francisco. The model is designed to handle tasks related to sales, marketing, and customer support, and is built on top of Nvidia's open-weight Nemotron family of large language models.
Koa has been post-trained by Salesforce to make it specifically capable of handling these tasks, and its unique architecture for inference ensures that the model uses fewer tokens to do work tasks. This could be cheaper than routing multi-step tasks to Claude or ChatGPT through the Agentforce AI gateway.
Salesforce also launched AIforce, which lets customers bring enterprise data, workflows, permissions, security, etc., to any AI interface without having to open the app and navigate through its UI. The company is expanding its partnership with Anthropic and collaborating deeper with Google Cloud and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Air India will use Agentforce-powered AI agents for processing refund requests in under four hours, resolving baggage and loyalty-related claims, managing eligibility checks, and reissuing tickets with requested name changes.
