Salesforce Unveils Slack as Front Door for AI and Productivity
Salesforce's Dreamforce 2026 conference has brought clarity to its collaboration platform Slack's role in the company's AI strategy, according to Irwin Lazar, President and Principal Analyst at Metrigy. In a keynote speech, Salesforce demonstrated how Slack can be used as a front door for AI and productivity.
Lazar noted that Slack was 'wandering' after being acquired by Salesforce five years ago, but now it has a clear direction. He said, 'I think AIforce, specifically Slackforce, was really, for me, the key takeaway.'
The demonstration highlighted how Slack can integrate with AI agents and allow users to interact with them directly within channels. This is part of Salesforce's headless CRM strategy, which aims to make data accessible through various user interfaces.
Lazar emphasized that this integration reduces task switching and makes it easier for users to work across different applications. He also pointed out that the ability to manipulate data and engage with other applications is a key benefit of this integration.
