Salesforce's Agentforce 360 Clears Defense Hurdles with IL5 Authorization
The Department of Defense has granted Impact Level 5 authorization to Salesforce's Agentforce 360 platform, allowing it to handle Controlled Unclassified Information and certain unclassified National Security Systems data.
This is a significant milestone for agentic AI in the defense sector, marking the start of production-grade government AI. The platform runs on AWS GovCloud, a physically and logically isolated region operated exclusively by U.S. personnel.
The authorization comes with a $5.6 billion Army contract, announced in January, making Salesforce one of the top contenders in the $4 billion U.S. AI defense market. Forecasts project the market to reach $10.9 billion by 2031 at a compound annual growth rate of 22.1%.
Agentforce 360 will be deployed by Army Human Resources Command, handling over 55 million agent conversations per month for soldiers, veterans, spouses, and military families.
