Salesforce's Dreamforce Conference Disrupted by Global Software Outage
Salesforce's Dreamforce conference was disrupted by a global software outage on September 16, 2026. The outage coincided with a shift to consumption-based AI pricing for Salesforce's Agentforce platform.
The disruption began at approximately 12:50 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time (PDT) and affected operating regions across the United States, Japan, India, France, and Germany. Requests stalled while waiting for a response from an internal login service, which consumed available server resources and prevented users from accessing the platform.
Initial attempts to resolve the issue through rolling restarts were unsuccessful, forcing engineers to develop a code-level fix. While some regions saw service restored by mid-morning, the outage persisted for up to nine hours in certain instances, affecting automated scheduled jobs and preventing the creation of customer support tickets.
The shift to consumption-based AI pricing is designed to align software costs directly with the business value generated by the AI. Salesforce has introduced a pay-per-resolution model, where organisations are charged only if the AI successfully resolves a customer's issue autonomously.
