Salesforce's Government Business Surges as AI Strategy Pays Off
Salesforce's AI strategy has yielded an unexpected winner in its government and defense business. The company reports that its defense revenue grew by a significant 80% year over year, with its public-sector business becoming its fastest-growing industry at scale.
This growth is attributed to the adoption of Missionforce, Salesforce's government-focused platform combining AI, data, applications, and cloud infrastructure. Launched last year, Missionforce now supports operations across more than 30 countries, 60 U.S. federal agencies, all 15 Cabinet departments, all 50 states, and all six branches of the U.S. military.
The company has secured a major contract with the U.S. Army, valued at up to $5.6 billion over 10 years, to expand Missionforce National Security across the Army and Department of War. The Army Human Resources Command is also using the platform to provide AI-powered services to 9.2 million soldiers, veterans, civilian employees, and military families.
Salesforce's success in government contracts has created a potentially important new growth engine for the company. As U.S. agencies increase spending on artificial intelligence, cloud software, and automation, Salesforce is well-positioned to capitalize on this trend.
