Salesforce's Surge: Was It Telegraphed All Along?
Salesforce's (CRM) stock has been on an impressive run since June 15, 2026. The conventional wisdom is that the August 26, 2026 earnings call and the announcement of Claudeforce, a product built jointly with Anthropic, were key drivers of this rally. However, a closer examination reveals that management had been outlining the turnaround metrics and projected timeline well in advance.
As early as December 3, 2025, Salesforce disclosed that growth in net new Annual Contract Value (ACV) outpaced overall ACV growth for the first time since fiscal 2022. This crossover is a historical indicator of organic revenue re-acceleration, which management committed to delivering within twelve to eighteen months.
Furthermore, on February 25, 2026, Salesforce raised its repurchase authorization to $50 billion, citing its own share price as dislocated and the buyback as the most prudent investment available. The company then commenced its largest ever accelerated share repurchase program, totaling $25 billion.
The August 26, 2026 earnings call provided further evidence of Salesforce's momentum, with current remaining performance obligation growing 14% in constant currency, ahead of the company's own guide. Net new ACV growth was also at its strongest in four years, and attrition was near its lowest level ever.
