Salisbury Cathedral Hosts Pet Blessing Service for Over 280 Animals

A special pet blessing service took place at Salisbury Cathedral on September 19, attended by over 280 people and their furry friends. The event, titled All Creatures Great and Small: A Service of Blessing for Our Pets, welcomed a diverse group of animals including 79 dogs, cats, guinea pigs, chickens, a tortoise, goldfish, and even a caterpillar.

The Revd Ross Meikle, missioner for young people, emphasized the importance of pets in our lives. He said, 'The pets and animals in our lives teach us so much about how to live well.'

The service featured readings, hymns, and music performed by Salisbury Cathedral's Girls Choir and Junior Choir, including a performance of John Rutter's All Things Bright and Beautiful.
