Sami Joins Chipotle Board as Global Growth Accelerates

Chipotle Mexican Grill has announced the appointment of Sabir Sami to its board of directors, effective immediately. The Pakistani-origin executive brings over 30 years of experience in the consumer and restaurant industry, including a stint as CEO of KFC from January 2022 to February 2025. During his time at KFC, Sami held global responsibility for the brand's strategy and performance, reporting directly to Yum! Brands' CEO.

Sami has also served as managing director of KFC Asia, overseeing markets across Thailand, India, Central Asia, and Greater Asia. Before joining Yum! Brands in 2009, he held leadership roles at Procter & Gamble, The Coca-Cola Co., and Reckitt Benckiser.

With over 4,200 restaurants globally, Chipotle is expanding its presence worldwide. Sami's experience leading international markets will be invaluable as the company scales with intention, strengthens operations, and expands access to its brand.
