Samsung Ditches Forced SwiftKey Installation on Galaxy Devices

Samsung has made it possible for Galaxy users to completely uninstall the Microsoft SwiftKey keyboard app from their devices, a move seen as part of a broader trend in Samsung's relationship with Microsoft.

This change is included in One UI 9.0 software and allows users to delete the app entirely, reclaiming around 55MB of storage space.

The shift highlights a quiet transition in Samsung's long-standing commercial partnership with Microsoft, which has seen Samsung devices arrive pre-installed with various Microsoft apps, including Office, OneNote, and OneDrive.

However, it seems that Samsung is moving away from this bundling agreement, as the company has recently sunsetted native OneDrive cloud integration within its stock Gallery app. This, combined with the removal of forced SwiftKey installations, suggests that Samsung's old bundling agreements are coming to a close.
