Samsung Ditches OneDrive, Integrates Google Photos in Galaxy App
Samsung users can now back up their photos and videos to Google Photos through an integration in the Samsung Gallery app. This comes after the company announced that it would be ending its Microsoft OneDrive integration on September 30, a move that was later revealed would be replaced by Google Photos integration.
To enable this feature, users need to have updated versions of the Samsung Gallery and Gallery Cloud Sync apps - versions 15.9.01.7 and 1.6.09.31, respectively. These updates are available through the Galaxy Store or can be downloaded manually from the APK files provided by the source.
Once enabled, users will see a banner at the top of the Gallery app prompting them to get started. After tapping the Get Started button, they will need to sign in to their Google account and select which albums to back up to the cloud. The feature also allows users to manually start or pause syncing, choose whether to sync over Wi-Fi or while roaming, and select specific albums to back up.
