Samsung Gallery Gets Google Account Sync Feature in Surprise Update

Samsung Gallery users have been dealt a blow as OneDrive integration ends on September 30. For years, this feature allowed seamless backup of photos and videos to Microsoft's cloud storage service.

Pankil Shah, a long-time Samsung user, was considering switching to Google Photos due to the loss of OneDrive integration. However, Samsung dropped a surprise update that allows Gallery users to sync directly with their Google account.

The setup process is straightforward: open the Gallery settings menu, tap Sync photos and videos, and link your Google account from there. You can then specify which albums to sync and choose whether syncing should happen on mobile data or while roaming.

However, transferring existing data from OneDrive to Google Photos is not as seamless, with no one-click option available. Shah had to manually download and upload his backed-up photos and videos.
