Samsung Rolls Out Google Photos Integration in Gallery App
Samsung has started rolling out Google Photos integration in its Gallery app. This feature allows users to automatically back up their photos and videos to Google's cloud via Samsung Gallery.
This move comes after Samsung announced it would end its partnership with Microsoft for OneDrive backups earlier this year. The new integration is now available in the latest version of Samsung Gallery (v15.9.01.7), which includes a 'Sync photos and videos' option under Settings.
The feature can be accessed by opening the Gallery app, tapping Menu > Settings > Sync photos and videos. However, it's worth noting that users may not see this option yet, as it is being rolled out gradually. Samsung confirmed its partnership with Google earlier in the year, and now the fruits of this collaboration are starting to appear.
This integration allows users who value cloud-based backups via Google but prefer not to use the Google Photos app itself to set up automatic cloud backups. However, unlike some other OEM gallery apps that support Google Photos integration, Samsung Gallery does not currently allow users to browse their entire Google Photos library within the app.
