San Diego Public Library Teams Up with Google for Free Career Advancement Courses
The San Diego Public Library has partnered with Google to offer free career advancement courses to county residents. The program, called 'Grow with Google,' provides industry-recognized certifications in digital fields such as cybersecurity, data analytics, and IT support.
The library reports that over 1 million people have used these programs to train for higher-paying jobs, with 70% of graduates reporting a positive career impact within six months. The certification access is available on a first-come, first-served basis, and each license lasts six months.
Library Director Misty Jones stated that digital skills are a necessity in the modern workplace and may become barriers to job seekers. Mayor Todd Gloria expressed gratitude for the partnership, saying it brings resources directly to communities.
