San Francisco is bracing for another AI-focused protest as activists plan to march through the city on Thursday, Sept. 17, the final day of Salesforce's Dreamforce conference.

The 'Stop The AI Race' march aims to slow down or halt development of artificial intelligence technology, which has become a contentious issue in recent times.

The protest will begin with a rally at OpenAI's headquarters at 9 a.m. followed by a march to Anthropic's HQ at 10 a.m., and then on to San Francisco City Hall for a final rally at 11:30 a.m.

Marchers are calling on Mayor Daniel Lurie and the SF Board of Supervisors to declare an 'AI Emergency' and enforce pacing of frontier model development in the city.

The march comes amid growing bipartisan calls for more regulation of AI, with progressive Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders joining forces with former Trump White House advisor Steve Bannon at an event on Tuesday to push for more human control of artificial intelligence.
