Santander and American Express have ended their partnership in Brazil, affecting customers who hold Gold and Platinum cards. Starting in September 2026, new purchases on these cards will be blocked, but accumulated points remain valid for redemption through Esfera, Santander's loyalty program.

The Centurion card, designed for high-net-worth individuals, will be canceled in October. Customers have been notified via email, SMS, and app about the card deactivation dates and offered replacement cards with benefits such as 12 months of waived annual fees, adjustable credit limits, and bonus points.

Santander has assured customers that accumulated points will not be lost, and instalment purchases made before the discontinuation of the cards will continue to appear on statements until paid off. Customers who have accumulated points over the years can redeem them through Esfera.
