SCAT Airlines Debuts Singapore-Shymkent Fifth-Freedom Service via Sanya
Kazakh flag carrier SCAT Airlines is expanding its international network into Southeast Asia with the introduction of a new fifth-freedom service connecting Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) and Shymkent in southern Kazakhstan via Sanya, Hainan Island. The twice-weekly service begins on 20 October 2026 and will run using Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft.
The route allows passengers to travel from Singapore to Shymkent with a total elapsed journey time of approximately 11.5 hours, including a scheduled 2-hour transit stopover in Sanya. During the layover, travelers remain inside the secure international transfer concourse and do not need to clear Chinese border control or apply for a Chinese visa.
The Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft features a single-class economy cabin with 186 seats in a standard 3-3 layout and is equipped with a Moment wireless BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) inflight entertainment platform. Passengers can stream movies, television programs, and digital menus directly to their personal smartphones, tablets, or laptops over an onboard Wi-Fi network.
