SCF Manatee-Sarasota Introduces New Degree in Cybersecurity Operations
State College of Florida (SCF), Manatee-Sarasota has launched a new Associate of Science degree in Cybersecurity Operations. This degree aims to fill a growing need for cybersecurity professionals in the area, according to Jason Reed, Associate Professor and Program Manager of Cybersecurity Operations at SCF.
The program prepares students for careers in digital defense, security analysis, networking engineering, and management-level positions. Reed notes that 'cybersecurity and networking go hand-in-hand,' with most companies trying to secure their networks from cyber threats.
Students can choose between a full-time and part-time schedule, allowing them to complete the degree in two years or at their own pace. The curriculum includes Cisco certification classes, cybersecurity courses, ethical hacking, data forensics, and general computer classes like hardware and networking.
