Schrier Steps Down from Executive Role to Pursue Producing Career
Eric Schrier, a 26-year veteran of FX and Disney, is stepping down as President of Direct-to-Consumer International Originals, Strategic Programming, and Emerging Media. However, he will remain with the company through a new producing partnership with Disney Entertainment Television.
Schrier's decision to leave his executive role comes after two years of building Disney+ international streaming originals' infrastructure and slate, which has expanded to 65 shows across 16 markets. He also oversaw the launch of several international titles, including Rivals, Alice and Steve, and Perfect Crown.
In an internal memo, Debra O'Connell, chairman of Disney Entertainment Television, revealed that Schrier's desire to return to his creative roots was a major factor in his decision. She expressed her pleasure at the prospect of continuing to work with him through their new producing partnership.
