SeaPort Airlines Offers Faster Alternative to Amtrak's $8 Billion Trains
Seattle-based SeaPort Airlines is offering an alternative to Amtrak's new $8 billion Airo trainsets. The airline operates out of Boeing Field and flies daily frequencies to Portland and Spokane, saving passengers over half their travel time compared to Amtrak.
'I love the train, but not if I have to get somewhere or by a certain time,' says SeaPort Airlines Founder and CEO Kent Craford.
SeaPort's service is more convenient than Amtrak's, with free parking, no TSA, and flights that take around an hour compared to seven hours on the train. The airline has required $0 in public subsidy to operate and uses existing infrastructure to launch efficient and time-saving service.
