Second RAF Boeing E-7A Wedgetail Completes Painting Stage

Boeing has completed the latest step in the acceptance process for its second E-7A Wedgetail aircraft intended for the Royal Air Force. The jet, designated WT002, arrived at Boscombe Down after undergoing final paint work and is now awaiting further military acceptance under Britain's three-aircraft airborne early warning and control programme.

The converted Boeing 737-700 airframe was previously used as a corporate jet by the manufacturer before being acquired in 2019. It completed its first flight from Birmingham on July 16, after which it underwent painting at London Southend Airport.

ST Aviation Services is carrying out the conversion of all three British E-7A aircraft at its Birmingham facilities, with Britain agreeing to source two airframes from the civilian secondary market to reduce costs. The programme also includes a fourth aircraft for the U.S. Air Force.
