Seinfeld Credits Himself with Creating American Express' Elite Black Card

Jerry Seinfeld claims to have played a key role in creating the American Express Black Card, also known as the Centurion Card. In an interview on Sebastian Maniscalco's podcast We Got Company, Seinfeld shared his story of how he convinced American Express to create the exclusive card.

Seinfeld was working with American Express as a spokesperson in 1996 when one of the crew members whispered to him about the supposed secret Black Card. The comedian reportedly replied that he didn't have it but would get one, and then called the president of American Express, Harvey Golub at the time, to propose the idea.

Seinfeld claimed that Golub agreed to look into it, and soon after, the Black Card was created. Seinfeld also revealed that he received the first Black Card, which he subsequently threw away without knowing what happened to it.
