Sensex Plunges 2.27% Over Five Sessions Amid Consecutive Midcap Declines
Over the last five trading sessions ended October 1, the benchmark Sensex declined by 2.27%, or 1,671 points, to close at 71,909. This period saw losses in four out of the five sessions. A total of 18 stocks in the BSE MidCap index fell consecutively during this time.
Among these, 14 midcap stocks declined by more than 5% over the same period. These include PB Fintech, Patanjali Foods, The New India Assurance Company, Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals, Tube Investments of India, Oil India, Narayana Hrudayalaya, NMDC, Poonawalla Fincorp, SJVN, Hindustan Copper, HDB Financial Services, Colgate-Palmolive (India), and Procter & Gamble Hygiene and Health Care.
The cumulative fall of these 14 stocks ranged from -6% to -19%. Some notable declines include PB Fintech's -19%, Patanjali Foods' -12%, The New India Assurance Company's -11%, Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals' -8%, Tube Investments of India's -8%, Oil India's -8%, Narayana Hrudayalaya's -7%, NMDC's -7%, Poonawalla Fincorp's -7%, SJVN's -7%, Hindustan Copper's -7%, HDB Financial Services' -7%, Colgate-Palmolive (India)'s -7%, and Procter & Gamble Hygiene and Health Care's -6%.
