Seoul's Night Markets Get a Global Boost
The Seoul Metropolitan Government is launching a night market festival in 23 traditional markets across the city. The event, which starts on October 1st, aims to revitalize the night economy and promote local culture.
The '2026 Support Project to Revitalize Traditional Market Night and Food Culture' will feature gourmet food, hanbok runway shows, busking performances, and book talks in each market. The festival is part of a larger effort to use Seoul's night as a new economic growth engine.
One of the participating markets is Haebangchon Shinheung Market, which has been transformed into a mini 'Coca-Cola village' through a branding campaign with the global company. The market will feature exotic restaurants and offer special promotions for visitors who pay with Onnuri gift certificates or Seoul Love gift certificates.
From October 1st to 3rd, an additional event called the '2026 Emerging Market Global Local Festival' will take place in Haebangchon, showcasing global flea markets from nine countries and other cultural activities.
