Sepehran Airlines Plane Returns After Tyre Failure Amid Sanctions Tensions
A Sepehran Airlines Boeing 737-300 suffered a tyre failure on takeoff from Mashhad Shahid Hasheminejad International Airport, Iran's second-busiest airport, on September 13 or 14. The crew declared an emergency and returned to the airport.
The aircraft experienced violent vibrations during the return journey, causing interior lining panels to come loose and fall into seats in the cabin. Despite the chaos, no one was injured.
This incident comes just eight days after the US Treasury put Sepehran Airlines on a sanctions list by name for operating in the Iranian aviation sector. The airline is now subject to stricter rules governing the procurement of parts for Western-built aircraft in Iran.
