SharePoint Online Takes Downed by Configuration Change
Microsoft's SharePoint Online experienced issues on September 16, between 1604 and 1730 GMT, when users were unable to load sites and pages due to a configuration change. The error message displayed was 'Sorry, something went wrong: Thread was being aborted.'
The issue was attributed to a change in how Microsoft's servers deliver code used to render SharePoint pages. This is not the first time a configuration change has caused problems for Microsoft's cloud services.
In response to the incident, Microsoft rolled back the change and stated that its service telemetry confirmed the problem had been resolved. The company also mentioned that it would assess its validation and deployment process to prevent similar issues in the future.
