Sherwin-Williams Expands North Carolina Paint Facility to Largest Plant in North America
Sherwin-Williams, the company behind paint and coatings products, has expanded its North Carolina facility, making it the largest plant in North America. The newly renovated site covers nearly 50,000 square feet and features improved production space, automation enhancements, four new rail spurs, and related infrastructure.
The project was a result of public-private partnerships between Sherwin-Williams, the state of North Carolina, Iredell County, and the City of Statesville. This expansion gives the company more flexibility in manufacturing and moving products across its global supply network.
Heidi Petz, Chair, President, and CEO of Sherwin-Williams, stated that the facility's increased production space, new rail infrastructure, and greater automation will improve efficiency in how the company manufactures and moves products. The site is strategically located near a distribution service center, connecting production, transportation, and distribution to the company's global operations.
Sherwin-Williams has been operating in Statesville since 1993. The location was chosen for its access to transportation infrastructure, skilled workforce, and strategic position within the company's manufacturing and distribution network.
