Sherwin-Williams Names Celery SW 6421 as its 2027 Color of the Year
Sherwin-Williams has announced its Color of the Year for 2027: Celery SW 6421. This soft yellow-green hue is described as 'cheery and surprisingly easy to decorate with' by Ashley Banbury, color marketing manager at Sherwin-Williams.
Banbury notes that the selection of Celery was influenced by the growing trend towards wellness-focused design and a desire for spaces that feel calming and connected to nature. Additionally, there is an emerging trend towards brighter greens, which Celery embodies while still being usable in various color schemes.
Celery's versatility makes it easy to pair with both cool and warm tones, making it suitable for use in bathrooms, bedrooms, or kitchen cabinetry. Banbury suggests pairing it with natural wood tones for a 'light and airy' feel. The brand recommends complementing Celery with light neutrals like White Flour or richer shades like Plum Brown.
Banbury also shared insights into other paint trends that will shape the industry in 2027, including the continued popularity of pastels, warm whites, and color drenching. However, she predicts a decrease in the use of color capping and limewash finishes within the next year or two.
