Sherwin-Williams Opens Largest North American Plant in Statesville
The Sherwin-Williams Company has officially opened its expanded manufacturing facility in Statesville, North Carolina, marking a significant milestone in the company's growth strategy. The newly enhanced plant, now Sherwin-Williams' largest in North America, features nearly 50,000 square feet of improvements, including expanded production space, automation enhancements, and four new rail spurs to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
The expansion strengthens Sherwin-Williams' manufacturing, distribution, and logistics capabilities, positioning the company to better serve customers across North America. Heidi Petz, Chair, President, and CEO of Sherwin-Williams, highlighted the facility's role in advancing supply chain responsiveness and supporting long-term growth. The project was made possible through a public-private partnership involving the state of North Carolina, Iredell County, and the City of Statesville, which provided approved incentives.
Sherwin-Williams has been operating in Statesville since 1993, and the site was chosen for expansion due to its access to transportation infrastructure, skilled workforce, and strategic location within the company's network. North Carolina Lt. Governor Rachel Hunt praised the expansion, noting its contribution to advanced manufacturing in Statesville and the state's business climate. Statesville Mayor Doug Hendrix also emphasized the project's benefits for the local community.
The grand opening ceremony was attended by several public officials, including U.S. Senator Ted Budd and U.S. Representative Pat Harrigan, who provided remarks in person or via video. The event underscored the importance of the expansion in supporting local talent, transportation access, and public-private partnerships.
