Shopify Gains Ground as Top Choice for Ecommerce Businesses
Maze, a digital marketing and ecommerce systems integration company, has noticed a significant shift in its clients' preferences. Over the past two years, the agency has seen an increase in clients moving from Salesforce Commerce Cloud to Shopify. According to Vince Santo, Maze's leader since 2020, this is due to several factors.
The first reason is Shopify's pace of innovation. The platform has rolled out over 800 new features and improvements since 2020, making it a more agile and nimble option for businesses. In contrast, Salesforce's ability to innovate is 'a bit more cumbersome,' Vince believes.
Shopify also offers speed to market, with frequent launches of new commerce functionality. This allows businesses on the platform to quickly respond to changes in the market and stay ahead of the curve. Additionally, Shopify has a modern ecommerce architecture, with an API-based system that enables clients to easily integrate apps and other services.
Another key factor is total cost of ownership (TCO). While clients may be initially drawn to Shopify's pricing, they soon realize that they get more features, capabilities, and value from the platform. Vince notes that Shopify's TCO is better than Salesforce, making it an attractive option for businesses.
