Silver Price Plummets Amid Growing Demand for AI Data Centers
Silver has seen its price plummet from over $115 per ounce in January to around $58 an ounce now, a decline of nearly half. This comes despite growing demand for the metal, driven by the massive build-out of AI data centers. McKinsey predicts that global data center spending could reach $7 trillion by 2030.
The reason for this discrepancy is a constrained supply of silver. Silver mining output has not kept pace with demand in recent years. Despite this, major data center hyperscalers like Meta Platforms, Amazon, Alphabet, and Microsoft appear to be forging ahead with their spending plans.
Some analysts believe that now may be a good time to invest in silver producers. The price of silver may not remain low for long if the demand from AI data centers continues to grow.
