Siri Scam Nearly Devastates 82-Year-Old Woman's Retirement
An 82-year-old woman from Massachusetts nearly lost her retirement savings after asking Siri to call American Express. Instead, she reached a fake customer-service number that led to scammers posing as Bank of America security experts.
Virginia had asked Siri to call American Express rather than using the phone number on her card. The caller posed as an American Express representative and eventually shifted the conversation to her Bank of America account.
The scammer told Virginia that a $1,000 credit had become $100,000 and needed to be returned. Fortunately, she questioned the story before sending any money.
