SIT and IBM Partner on Quantum Security Testing Center
The Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) and IBM are joining forces to create a center at SIT's Punggol Campus, which will test quantum security by the end of 2026. This facility will help companies evaluate vulnerabilities in their existing systems and test quantum-safe technologies using tools like IBM's Guardium Cryptography Manager and Quantum Safe Explorer.
The Punggol Center will provide a realistic environment for testing, as it is located within the Punggol Digital District, a functioning smart city ecosystem. This hands-on approach aims to identify weaknesses in existing systems before quantum computers capable of breaking current encryption standards become available.
The partnership between SIT and IBM will also address the skills gap in post-quantum cryptography through two Continuing Education and Training programs. A one-day Executive Programme will target senior leaders, including board members and chief information security officers, equipping them with the strategic understanding needed to guide their organizations through the transition.
The Foundation Programme, a three-day course, will focus on the technical aspects of post-quantum cryptography, catering to cybersecurity practitioners, software developers, and IT professionals. Both programs aim to prepare a workforce capable of implementing and maintaining quantum-safe infrastructure.
