SK Hynix Offers Compelling Combination of Growth and Valuation
Intel and SK Hynix are two semiconductor stocks that have seen significant gains in recent days due to reports of potential partnership opportunities. Intel's shares have surged about 10% since news of the possible deal broke, while SK Hynix has climbed around 5%. The discussions reportedly center on Intel's Ohio manufacturing complex, with possibilities ranging from SK Hynix leasing capacity to a broader joint venture involving cloud companies.
However, no formal partnership has been announced, and SK Hynix stressed that no specific plans or arrangements have been finalized. Despite this, the companies' stocks continue to attract investor attention due to their exposure to growing markets such as artificial intelligence (AI) and high-bandwidth memory (HBM).
Intel's operational turnaround is gaining traction, with Q2 revenue jumping 25% year over year to $16.1 billion, while Data Center and AI revenue surged 59% to $6.3 billion. The company's earnings recovery is also accelerating, with FY26 EPS expected to soar to $1.50 from $0.42 per share last year.
SK Hynix, on the other hand, has a stronger secular growth story thanks to its leadership in HBM. The company supplies memory products to major technology customers such as Nvidia and Microsoft, giving it exposure to another crucial component in AI accelerators.
