Slack has evolved from a tool for human collaboration into a platform where AI agents play a central role. Over a decade ago, Slack was created to help engineering teams coordinate code and communicate efficiently. Today, AI agents are seamlessly integrated into Slack channels, performing automated actions through open standards like MCP. These agents pull context from platforms such as GitHub, Salesforce, and Jira to take real-time actions, with Slack processing 127 million MCP tool calls weekly, a figure that is doubling every quarter.

Slack now handles 1 billion messages daily, with 50% of them originating from apps and agents. At Anthropic, 65% of all code changes are shipped through Slack. The platform has seen rapid adoption, with over 100,000 new customers joining in 2026 and users experiencing a 312% return on investment. Companies like Rochester Electronics use Slack as an operational command center, automating routine tasks and generating executive briefings, which has significantly reduced operational friction.

Slackbot, the fastest-adopted AI product in Salesforce history, interacts with 1.9 million users weekly. Nine out of ten top frontier AI companies run their operations on Slack, with spending growth across Salesforce products at 435% year over year. Vercel, a leader in agentic infrastructure, operates entirely within Slack, eliminating over 70,000 hours of meetings annually. Salesforce itself has 694,000 active Slack channels, with 83% of employees using Slackbot weekly and 90% of sellers updating Salesforce through the platform.
