SLB N.V. has expanded its digital subsurface collaboration with TotalEnergies SE by welcoming Chevron Technical Center as the second global operator in the initiative. Known as Arena, this collaboration was launched in 2024 and now includes Chevron, which will contribute investment, intellectual property, and technical expertise. Chevron’s involvement enhances the development of next-generation reservoir engineering and geoscience technologies, strengthening SLB’s digital business.
The Arena collaboration aims to improve decisions across reservoir engineering and geoscience by leveraging AI and data-driven workflows. SLB plans to integrate its digital and subsurface expertise with input from TotalEnergies and Chevron. Embedded experts from both companies at SLB’s technology centers will help shorten feedback cycles and align product development with operational needs.
For SLB, this expansion reinforces its strategy of transitioning from traditional oilfield services to higher-value digital solutions. Chevron’s participation adds credibility and highlights the growing industry demand for AI-enabled workflows and faster field-development decisions. The collaboration supports SLB’s long-term growth in its digital portfolio.
TotalEnergies and SLB both hold a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold). The broader investment landscape remains favorable for oilfield service providers, with elevated crude prices supporting upstream spending. Chevron and Equinor, both rated Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy), are poised to benefit from sustained production and exploration activities, further driving demand for SLB’s services.
