Smoke-Filled Delta Flight Evacuated at ATL After Emergency Landing
A fully loaded Delta Air Lines Boeing 757-200 took off from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Saturday morning, but just minutes into the flight, pilots reported smoke and fumes in the cockpit.
The pilots immediately declared an emergency and returned to ATL. Once the plane landed safely, airport firefighters inspected it and found no visible signs of smoke or damage.
However, a short while later, smoke began filling the cabin, prompting the crew to evacuate all 199 passengers via emergency slides onto the taxiway.
