Snap's Specs AR Glasses Lack Concrete Details in Enterprise Pitch
Snap's enterprise pitch for Specs AR glasses has been met with skepticism due to its lack of concrete details. The company claims that five partners are working on integrations, including Salesforce, Amazon Web Services, NVIDIA, Trifork, and Hololight. However, the announcement does not provide any information on pricing or support terms.
Of the five partners mentioned, only two - Trifork and Hololight - have products that can be used immediately. Trifork's Tandem connects an onsite technician with remote experts and AI agents, while Hololight's streaming technology allows users to access a workstation, server, or cloud-based application on their Specs glasses.
The lack of device management vendors named is also a concern for IT departments, as it may require manual management during a pilot trial. However, Snap claims that they are working closely with vendors to build mobile device management and security controls.
Anshel Sag of Moor Insights & Strategy believes that enterprise AR will drive volume for Specs, but notes that volume follows procurement, which in turn requires a price sheet - something Snap has not published for business customers. The company's commitment to partnering with carriers is seen as a positive step, with Verizon offering data plans starting at $10 per month.
