Somon Air Takes Delivery of First Boeing 737 Max Aircraft

Somon Air, the national carrier of Tajikistan, has taken delivery of its first Boeing 737 Max aircraft. The new plane is a 737-8 model, leased from Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE). This marks the beginning of Somon Air's fleet renewal efforts and expansion plans.

The Boeing 737-8 will be used to operate short and medium-haul routes in Central Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. Its increased operational range allows for more flexibility in route planning and expansion. With a maximum capacity of up to 210 passengers, depending on configuration, this aircraft is an upgrade from its predecessors.

Boeing notes that the 737-8 features a reduction in fuel consumption and carbon emissions by 20% compared to older models. This improvement makes it an attractive option for airlines looking to reduce their environmental footprint while maintaining profitability.

CEO Abdulkosim Valiev of Somon Air expressed optimism about this new addition, stating that the aircraft's increased range provides opportunities to open new routes with better fuel efficiency.
