SpaceX eyes $40 billion fundraise for Nvidia chips
SpaceX is planning a massive $40 billion fundraise to secure Nvidia chips, according to a report by the Financial Times. The effort, led by Apollo Global, aims to secure about $10 billion in bank loans and $30 billion in investment-grade debt. Apollo is expected to lead the deal and help market the debt, with Pimco among a small group of lenders in talks to fund the transaction.
The planned fundraise underscores the significant investments being made in data centers, chips, and other infrastructure critical for running AI systems. SpaceX has a close relationship with Nvidia, with Elon Musk previously stating that the company would exclusively use Nvidia chips in its Colossus data centers.
SpaceX, which integrated Musk’s xAI startup before its initial public offering earlier this year, powers its flagship Grok AI through Colossus. The company has also signed deals to rent out computing capacity from Colossus to other major AI developers, including Anthropic and Alphabet’s Google.
