SpaceX Lands $946 Million NASA Deal for Three More ISS Flights

NASA has awarded SpaceX a $946 million contract to fly three more astronaut missions to the International Space Station. This brings the total number of NASA astronaut flights awarded to SpaceX under the contract to 17, increasing its total value to $5.92 billion.

The deal extends SpaceX's crewed flights to the orbital laboratory through 2030 and covers preparations for astronauts and spacecraft on the ground, launches and operations in space, as well as returning crews to Earth and recovering the capsule.

NASA relies heavily on SpaceX to transport astronauts to and from the space station, while also maintaining Boeing as a second U.S. option for crewed missions. This is intended to prevent an accident or technical problem involving one provider from cutting off U.S. astronaut access to the space station.
