SpaceX's $1 Trillion Revenue Target Faces Skepticism Amid Market Trends and Bottlenecks
SpaceX aims to reach $1 trillion in revenue by 2030, according to its founder and CEO Elon Musk. However, based on current trends, it's unlikely that SpaceX will be the first company to hit this milestone.
The company's aggressive investments in artificial intelligence (AI) data centers are a key factor in its growth strategy. Last year, SpaceX generated $18.7 billion in revenue, and Musk projects that figure to reach $1 trillion by 2030 through rapid expansion of AI data centers on Earth and in orbit.
However, this goal may be overly ambitious, as no company has ever reached $1 trillion in revenue in a single calendar year. To achieve this feat, SpaceX would need to compound its sales at more than 100% annually for five straight years, which is unlikely given the current market trends and bottlenecks in electric power, computer chip, and construction.
Amazon, on the other hand, has already generated $775 billion in revenue over the last 12 months and only needs to grow its revenue by 10% per year for the next three years to surpass the $1 trillion mark. This makes it likely that Amazon will be the first company to hit this milestone.
