Spicy McNuggets May Never Be Permanent Due to Operational Challenges
McDonald's has been teasing fans with limited-time offers of Spicy Chicken McNuggets, but one franchisee says making them permanent might not be as simple as it seems.
The nuggets have returned to menus several times, and customers are wondering why they're not a staple on the menu. According to McFranchisee, an anonymous McDonald's franchisee who shares details about the chain's operations on social media, Spicy McNuggets create extra work for restaurants because they compete with one of the chain's core products.
'It competes with one of your top core products,' the franchisee explained. 'I now have to carry 2 different nugs and keep them fresh from 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. instead of just one.' This adds to the workload, as restaurants need to store, cook, and package two types of nuggets.
The franchisee believes Spicy McNuggets are better suited for temporary appearances rather than becoming a permanent fixture. 'It works well for a short-term LTO but probably isn't the best idea for a permanent place,' they said.
