Splunk Expands India Operations After Cisco Acquisition
Cisco's acquisition of Splunk in March 2024 has led to an expansion of Splunk's operations in India, which is seen as a key market for cybersecurity and observability. According to Robert Pizzari, Group VP, Asia at Splunk, the company was funded to increase its human resource capacity in India to support general growth and scale.
Splunk has invested in expanding its frontline sales, pre-sales, and channel teams in India, leveraging Cisco's larger customer and partner ecosystem. India's digital scale presents a major opportunity for cybersecurity, observability, and digital resilience, particularly in the telecom and banking sectors where platforms serve hundreds of millions of users.
Pizzari noted that companies need to account for India-specific economics and customer expectations around pricing. He also highlighted the growing focus on data sovereignty in India, which is shaping Splunk's strategy. The company will continue supporting on-premise, cloud, and hybrid deployments to allow Indian multinationals to maintain sovereign deployments for domestic operations.
Splunk is partnering with domestic cloud service providers operating under sovereign requirements. Pizzari emphasized the importance of leveraging Cisco's size and scale, as well as addressing legitimate concerns around AI innovation while enabling it.
