SQL Server on Azure Local Now Available for Connected and Disconnected Operations

Microsoft has announced that SQL Server on Azure Local is now generally available for connected and disconnected operations. This allows organizations to run databases on their own infrastructure in connected or disconnected environments.

The decision to deploy SQL Server on Azure Local involves more than just where to store data, as it also requires planning for local management, infrastructure capacity, licensing, and recovery.

Azure Local runs on customer-managed infrastructure in datacenters and edge locations. Microsoft says SQL Server workloads can run in Windows Server or Linux virtual machines on that infrastructure.
