Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge Introduces Updated Protection & Defense Lightsaber Hilt Theme
The Protection & Defense lightsaber hilt theme has just received its third version, bringing fresh component pieces to Savi’s Workshop in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This update follows the Power & Control hilt theme’s version three release in May 2024.
The new design, inspired by the High Republic era of the Jedi Order, features a white and yellow gold color scheme. Customers can choose from ten distinct pieces: two emitters, four sleeves, two switches, and two pommels. Each lightsaber is assembled using one emitter, two sleeves, one switch, and one pommel.
The updated hilt theme contrasts sharply with its predecessor, which had silver, gold, and bronze accents. The new emitters are more refined, while the sleeves feature elegant Jedi iconography. The switches offer both simple and elaborate designs, and the pommels come in white with gold fleur-de-lis or near solid gold with angular white accents.
Alongside the hilt theme update, the lightsabers themselves have been enhanced with new technology. Features include a thermal cutting effect, spinning effect, deflection effects, improved audio quality, and smoother blade activation. Additionally, the upgraded lightsabers now support color-changing blades when used with rare cracked Kyber crystals, allowing a quick switch between blue and red.
