Starcloud Soars with $250M Extension, Valued at $2.3B
Starcloud, an orbital-data-center company, has secured a $250M extension to its March Series A funding round. The new investment brings the total raised by Starcloud to $450M, valuing it at $2.3B.
The funding was led by Manhattan West and included participation from Benchmark, EQT, Soma Capital, NFX, SevenSevenSix, Cedar Capital, Goanna Capital, Standard Capital, NVIDIA, and Cisco. This investment comes amid growing public opposition to traditional data centers on the ground, with 71% of Americans expressing disapproval.
Starcloud's CEO, Phillip Johnston, sees this investment as a validation of their unique approach to data centers in space. They are currently operating a NVIDIA H100 data-center GPU in orbit and plan to fly the Vera Rubin Space-1 module, developed by NVIDIA, in late 2028.
